Vocaloid’s Hatsune Miku is coming to U.S. Television!?

Yes friends, it’s true. Hatsune Miku is teaming up with Toyota to promote the Toyota Corolla. You can view one of the commercial videos below:

If you’re unfamiliar with Miku, she’s the digital personification used to represent a voice used in a digital synthesizer program called Vocaloid. There are other voices aside from Miku as well: Megurine Ruka, Len, Rin and at least a half dozen others. The Vocaloid software was originally developed by Yamaha. It’s some pretty cool software. They took real human voices and recorded every possible sound needed to form words. Users enter the lyrics they would like sung and the software makes it happen. So why should you care about some software mascot? Well Miku is very popular in Japan as are the other Vocaloid characters. They are used in music videos created with the Vocaloid software. Companies like the Good Smile Company have made collectible figurines and they are hot sellers.

Here’s another video of Miku actually performing “live” in concert and be sure to take note of the crowd’s energy:

Miku has even become part of the Ievan Polka/Loituma meme:

The above is an odd video. There’s many funny ones available on Youtube and I won’t link them all here.

Watch Cromartie High School on DVDs from Netflix

Although not yet available to watch instantly, you can watch both the anime series and the live action movie through Netflix as an alternative to buying the DVDs yourself.

The 4-disc anime series is available here: Anime on Netflix and the live action movie is available here: Live action movie

Currently the anime series is rated 3.6/5 stars and the movie is at 3/5.

I was also recommended to check out 3 other anime series. The first is Gurren Lagann which I saw and did enjoy. The next is Desert Punk, which at first I thought was Sand Land the anime but I had the titles confused. The third series is School Rumble. I actually had a wall scroll from that series for sale on eBay a while back. Netflix guesses I’m not just going to like it, but that I’ll really like it. Well we’ll see soon enough.

The Excalibur Song

This is from the anime series, Soul Eater. I just find it the “Engrish” to be quite amusing and definitely worth sharing:

On another note, Soul Eater is a decent watch and worth checking out if you are looking for a good 52 episode series.

Why Kamiyama Was the Most Bad Ass at Cromartie…

So if you watched the anime, there was the question of Why Kamiyama was forced to go to Cromartie High School. You were told you had to read the manga to find out what happened. Well for the time being the Cromartie High School manga is up here and you can learn what exactly Kamiyama did to end up being considered a delinquent.

DO NOT READ BELOW THIS LINE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SPOILED! I recommend reading the manga yourself but if for some reason the link above no longer works or you’re unable to obtain it, I’ll explain if for you here…

SPOILER: So Kamiyama gets word of an attempt to break the current record of most dominoes knocked down at once. Kamiyama gets accepted as one of the volunteers to help set up the dominoes and after a month he becomes frustrated by the entire process. At the time the world record was 37,042. So Kamiyama glues the 37,042 domino to ensure that the record will not be broken. Of course the other delinquents at Cromartie suddenly realize that Kamiyama is indeed the most bad ass of all of them for doing such a thing.
END SPOILER

Cromartie High School AMV Dragostea din Tei (Numa Numa)

This video is actually from 2006, but being that I’m still a recent convert to Cromartie High, I think the age of the video should not be held against me.

If you’re not familiar, the song is “Dragostea din Tei” which is Romanian for “Love under the Linden Tree” or something very close to that. The singers are a group called O-zone though others have covered the song including Haiducii and I believe even Rihanna uses a sample of the music in one of her more recent songs.

As far as the Cromartie version goes, It was entertaining. The video choices were good, though the mouths did not match the words perfectly.

Cromartie High School Internet Troll Anime Clip

This is one of my favorite clips from the show. I’ve seen some people get very flustered over comments made by internet trolls so seeing it in an anime was great. The end is the best.

Cromartie High School Anime Intro Video

I’m sure there’s 100 different rips of this video being passed around the internet and each will have a varying quality. The video below is decent 480p with good audio. One of the better videos that I’ve seen available. Enjoy!

Cromartie High School MUST HAVE Collectibles

I can’t stop raving about the Mechazawa Plush. It’s just so awesome. It’s only imperfection is that it’s not lifesize, though I don’t really have the space for a lifesize Mechazawa-kun in my apartment.
